Matt CapalbyMatthew Capalby
Director, Northern Regional Office

Matt Capalby directs the Northern Regional Office (NRO) in Flagstaff. Matt is a third generation resident of Kingman, Arizona. After graduating from high school in 1983, Matt joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served as one of that service's elite Airborne Medic/Frogman. Upon his honorable discharge in 1990, Matt attended Arizona State University where he majored in political science.

Returning to Kingman in 1996, Matt served as operations administrator for his family's property development and management business and later served as Assistant Director for the Mohave County Economic Development Authority. He has served on the Kingman Municipal Utilities Commission; he also served two years on Kingman's Planning and Zoning Commission.

Besides working with Special Olympics, Matt has also worked as a support advisor with Arizona Resource for Independence and Self-Enhancement (ARISE), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the developmentally disabled.

Matt served from 2003 to 2004 as the ADEQ Community Liaison for Northwest Arizona. He recently returned from Hawaii to accept the position as the Director of the Northern Regional Office for ADEQ.

He and his wife, Abbie, have two children, Sophia and John, and been married for seven years.
