12.0pt;font-family:Arial'>Any ground water system (GWS) that does not have an <b><u><span
style='font-weight:bold'>approved</span></u></b> 4-log removal/inactivation of
viruses demonstration and is notified of a ROUTINE or INCREASED ROUTINE
positive total coliform result under the Total Coliform Rule (TCR) must conduct
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Triggered Source Water Monitoring</span></b>.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=Default><font size=3 color=black face=Arial><span style='font-size:
12.0pt;font-family:Arial'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=Default><font size=3 color=black face=Arial><span style='font-size:
12.0pt;font-family:Arial'>Until such time that a plan is received and approved
in writing, any positive ROUTINE or INCREASED ROUTINE total coliform sample
taken on, or after, December 1, will require triggered source water sampling.
All source(s) contributing to the finished water in the distribution system at
the time the total coliform sample was taken, are to be sampled at the wellhead
(raw water) and the sample is to be processed for either E. coli, Coliphage or Enterococci.
The sample would need to be un-chlorinated raw water, or pumped until there is
no chlorine residual prior to sampling.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=Default><font size=3 color=black face=Arial><span style='font-size:
12.0pt;font-family:Arial'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=Default><font size=3 color=black face=Arial><span style='font-size:
12.0pt;font-family:Arial'>If a triggered source water sample is positive for a
fecal indicator (E. coli, Coliphage or Enterococci), the state will require the
system to take corrective action or take five <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>additional
source water samples </span></b>from the same source(s) within 24 hours of
notification of the fecal indicator-positive result and analyze the additional
samples for a fecal indicator. If any one of the five additional samples is
fecal indicator-positive, the system must take corrective action.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face=Arial><span style='font-size:12.0pt;
font-family:Arial'>GWSs serving fewer than 1,000 people that have a total
coliform-positive result under the TCR may use the triggered source water
monitoring sample collected from the ground water source to meet both the
triggered source water monitoring requirement of the GWR as well as the 4th
repeat “other” sampling requirement of the TCR (must use <i><span
style='font-style:italic'>E. coli </span></i>as a fecal indicator for source
water monitoring).<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
