ADEQ Director Owens Announces $33,500 Grant to Fund Community Recycling
in Kingman in Mohave County

PHOENIX (July 14, 2008) - Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
Director Steve Owens announced today that ADEQ is awarding $33,500 to
fund recycling in Kingman.

The grant will be used to provide residents in the Mohave County city
with dropoff recycling at collection trailers in three locations:
Centennial Park on Harrison Street, Cecil Davis Park on Van Buren Street
and South Side Little League Park on Buchanan Street.

"Recycling is one of our most effective tools to protect our
environment," Director Owens said. "It is especially important to
increase recycling throughout Greater Arizona, and we are delighted to
support this important effort in Kingman. This will increase public
awareness of the importance of recycling, as well as the opportunities
to recycle in the area."

The city has a goal of reducing solid waste by 15 percent to 20 percent,
or about 4,800 tons annually, in Kingman and nearby unincorporated areas
through expansion of the recycling program.

The grant is funded by ADEQ's Waste Reduction Assistance program, for
projects devoted to waste reduction, recycling and composting.
